About Burning Bones
Burning Bones Physical Theatre builds community engagement with compelling physical performances and contributes to an original and fearless live performance and training culture in Atlanta. Our members are predominantly queer and disabled performers, and this is central to our methods of training and creating together.
Through personalized skill development for company members, community workshops, and partnerships with local artists and organizations, we are committed to the development of performance in the southeast, the continued progress of Atlanta as a site for unique and exciting artistic works, and the representation our work outside of the southeast as proudly Atlanta-based.
We draw on several traditions that form a core part of our creative practice and lineage including butoh, clowning, Fitzmaurice Voicework®, and Organic Intelligence®.
Burning Bones Physical Theatre’s productions include Harold Pinter’s "One for the Road” (2020), “Too Far for Comfort" (2020), David Cale’s “Harry Clarke” (2022), “Malicious Compliance” (2023), Bess Wohl’s “Small Mouth Sounds” (2024), and “Hysteria” (2024). Burning Bones’ work has been showcased in Spring for Spring Dance Festival (2021), So Long, Farewell (2021), Human Lights Festival: A Curious Encounter (2021), the Atlanta Fringe Festival (2022), and Beltline Flow and Beltline After Dark programming for Art on the Beltline (2023).
