Intimacy and Consent Choreography/Coordination
Movement tells the story. My approach is built on consent-based and trauma-informed practices that use desexualized (non-euphemistic) language and documented choreography.
Intimacy not only includes acts such as touching, kissing, nudity, sexual violence, and dramatized sex acts in live or filmed productions, but also applies to stories incorporating pregnancy, disability, race, gender identity, and more. As an intimacy and consent choreographer (theatre) and coordinator (film/TV), I collaborate with the director, performers, and other stakeholders involved (such as costume designers, stunt coordinators) to create a cohesive story that fulfills the creator’s vision while maintaining a consensual and safe environment.
My approach to intimacy choreography (theatre) and intimacy coordination (film) include creating:
A culture of consent and communication
The facilitation of brave spaces to support performers in doing their best work
A desexualized approach
Choreographed and repeatable performances
Efficient and effective approaches to physicalizing the story
Backup plans
Documented processes
